A Gandharan Grey Schist Standing Figure of Bodhisattva Maitraya, 3rd-5th Century
3rd-5th Century
The Bodhisattva Maitreya stands on a lotus base, dressed in a monastic robe with Hellenistic-style pleats, adorned with jewels, his left hand holding the kalasha, the vase of immortality, his curly hair topped with the ushnisha bun, backed by a halo with a border of lotus petals.
